   Renovation in progress.

Renovation

LDTC has undertaken -- with the help of a lot of terrific volunteers -- a renovation of the Black Coffee Theatre. We hope to have it completed by opening night of A Tuna Christmas on December 18. Be sure and come see our new, improved “old” facility.

NEEDED!!!!!

Are you interested in helping our theatre function more efficiently and look great? If so, please consider donating funds ear-marked for the purchase of any of the following items:

Light fixtures for lobby and bathroom
Occasional chairs for lobby
Area rug for lobby
Large mirror and light fixtures for bathroom
Portable phone with answering machine
Fabric for new window seat
Fabric for window curtains
Small refrigerator

Any size contribution will be greatly appreciated. Call Lennie or Paige at LDTC, 513-9386, if you have funds or materials you’d like to donate.

Volunteers

“Make a Difference Day” in Summit County on October 9 brought us many volunteers who worked for hours painting, cleaning, organizing, and building in our theatre. A very big thank you to volunteers:  Tara Dunn, Nikki Wolfe, Hollie Brewer, Elena Dorn, Bonnie Dorn, Ruth S. Hertzberg, Juoy Evans, Joe Evans, Gretchen Tilden, Kitty Hilsabeck, and Rick Hilsabeck.

You did MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE!

Awards

Congratulations are due for LDTC’s entry into CCTC’s annual Theatre Festival. With an original piece called Three Sisters, a Nurse, and My Lady, compiled by Elgin Kelley, our production came away with 2nd place award for Best Play, Best Director for Elgin Kelley, All State honors for Acting for Shelly Gaza, and All State Set Design honors for Elgin Kelley and Andy Knauer.

Congratulations to ALL!

Welcome!

Lake Dillon Theatre Company now boasts co-Artistic Directors! Lennie Singer and Paige Jones are sharing the responsibilities of LDTC’s Black Coffee Theatre program, Theatre Educational program, and Young People’s Theatre Workshop. And Corrine Bair -- one of the original LDTC board members -- is coming on board as Theatre Manager. Welcome!

Theatre Wings

A group of enthusiastic theatre lovers comprise LDTC’s Theatre wings. This group will assist Lennie, Paige, and Corrine in various aspects of production. They’ve already helped with our renovation and scrapbook organization, but the work never seems to end! If you are interested in volunteering even just a few hours of your time to LDTC, give us a call at 513-9386.

Theatre Education

Classes in Scene Study and Directing are underway at LDTC. Alan Osburn -- actor and director from the Denver Center Theatre Company -- is teaching these classes co-sponsored by LDTC and Backstage Theatre. The students arrived with varying levels of theatre expertise, and are learning a great deal more!

If you are interested in taking a theatre class, consider the Musical Theatre Workshop LDTC will be offering after the new year. Plans are under way to offer instruction in Voice and Movement from Rick and Kitty Hilsabeck, who recently completed a 7-year tour of Phantom of the Opera (Rick as the Phantom, Kitty as Meg.)

Black Coffee Theatre

A Tuna Christmas is a hilarious look at the holiday activities taking place in the comical, fictional town of Tuna, Texas. This laugh riot features just two actors (Todd Van Voris, Stephen Collins) playing ten characters of varying age, gender, and attitude. This show is a perfect evening’s entertainment for theatre lovers of all ages, religious denominations, and geographic backgrounds. Shows run on December 18, 19, 22, 23, 25, 26, 29, 30, 31, and January 1. Showtime is 7:30pm. Ask about gift certificates for this holiday show!

HELP!! We need Christmas lights, a small aluminum Christmas tree and a large Christmas tree for our “Tuna…” performances. Anyone who has extra, please call Bettyjo Knapp at 513-9386.

Speakin’Easy---a Cabaret, a 20’s cabaret directed by Lennie Singer, will showcase a group of famous and infamous roaring twenties characters who frequent this faddish “illegitimate” cabaret. Come see it! You might see the likes of Charlie Chaplain, Elliot Ness, or even Mae West! The show will run February 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 22, and March 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14. Showtime is 7:30pm (except for February 19 and March 11 – which is 11:00pm.)

Eight ten-minute plays will be presented in April. More on this later.

An Improvisation troupe will be formed in January.

Also on board…readings of new plays by local artists! More on this in January.

 Young People’s Theatre Workshop

Beginning in January there will be information and registration available for next summer’s exciting children’s theatre program!! Call Lennie with questions at 513-9386.
